Most day's it's a blessing to have a creative gift, though it's a a constant battle to fight the distractions that prevent us from doing what we were born to do.
I prefer the days when my muse whispers in my ear, but most days my muse just refuses to show up. On those days it's the habits that carry me into the project. It's rarely inspiring, more often than not it feels monotonous. But many times those dull habits lead to inspiration. I guess it's the difference of tripping over a precious stone versus going to the mine and digging through a lot of gunk before we finally find something worth keeping. Or as choreographer Twyla Tharp explains it:
"I’m digging though everything to
find something. It’s like clawing
at the side of a mountain to
get a toehold, a grip, some sort
of traction to keep
moving upward and onward."
Thank you Alan Cole for posting the blog on Linked-in about the creative process. That article led me to the link of this blog. Amazing story. We must make no excuses and fight to write.
I think I may go to the library and do some work. I had almost convinced myself to go shopping.

Thanks, Tammy for your echoes...I hear them in my heart too. I have more projects than I can count yet I can get distracted by the oddest things.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how all the WPW friends are doing?
Maybe we can catch up,
