Be Astonished!

I meant to share….
...an insight I discovered on Monday morning before heading to campus. I shared it with Linda on Monday during my one-on-one, she encouraged me to tell the group. Unfortunately, the opportunity didn't present itself. I would like to share it with you now because I think it matters.
I read Psalm 143:5 in the wee hours. It said, “...I muse on the work Your hands."
MUSE is such a good writing word, isn't it? I thought so too. So I did some cross referencing and found a few more verses that further defined and expanded this idea.
Psalm 105:2 "Sing to Him, sing praises to HIM. Speak of all His wonders."
Psalm 77:12 "I will meditate on all your work, and muse on Thy deeds."
And then, Psalm 119:27, "...I will meditate on your wonders."
This pushed me further to look up the word MUSE in the dictionary
MUSE
       1. To think or meditate in silence

       2. To gaze meditatively or wonderingly

       3. To comment thoughtfully or ruminate
But, the idea that fed my soul and prompted my heart-felt prayer was, in the Middle English the origin the word muse means also to BE ASTONISHED.
I lifted my voice that morning, asking, "Please Lord, help me (us) to be astonished this week."
The Lord answers prayer....and I can tell you I felt astonished when my kind innkeeper said, YOU DID GOOD. It didn't register all at once, as often the mist needs to rise from the soul in order to feel and understand. My dad's words became clear—out of the misty past. I felt astonished at how the Lord used them to astonish me enough for tears that morning. And astonish me in the realization that the depth of my need is satisfied through meeting the Lord through His word.
The Lord seems to be speaking in these quiet ways, quiet enough they may slip in unnoticed if I'm not in tune with my own heart prayer.
I don't know if this word is for you too. If you were astonished this week, I would love to hear about how He met you.
So wonderful to meet you all and enjoy your heart's desire to communicate God's love and grace through the written word.
